We now have four lambs, 3 ewes and 1 ram.
Two ewes are pure Katahdin and the other ewe and ram are Katahdin & Dorper cross.
We have several goats, Nubians, Nigerian Dwarf, and Pygmys that will be due within the next couple of months. I am so looking forward to milking the Nubians and starting to make goat soap and cheese.
Our feeder/bottle calves are growing like crazy and we'll have fresh beef for sale soon.
We do have a Dexter steer ready for the freezer if anyone is interested in some home-grown fresh beef.
Also, we have a couple of young ewes for sale.
We are looking for a few piglets, one gilt and two cut boers.

LaMancha & Nubian Bottle Babies
We have a LaMancha buckling, Rowdy, he was born 12th March, 2010. A dear friend of mine, Susie, gave him to us. He is chocolate w/ white and tan markings.
We also have three little Nubian doelings from Susie, they are Kasey, Kimber, and Krissy (aka Squirt- she's tiny). I'm hoping to breed them to Rowdy or one of the Nubian bucks we have when they're old enough.
We also got two adorable little LaMancha/Angora doelings from another member of the Ozark Homesteaders yahoo group I'm a member of. Moon is black w/ white markings and ZuZu is solid black.
My goal is to be able to milk them and use the milk for our family, making cheese and soap.

Spring has arrived, we finally have a Dexter calf, she was born the 17th of January. I was so thrilled to find her, Logan still talks about the sound I made as I was calling him to come see.
We have a little 1/2 Nigerian Dwarf 1/2 Pygmy buckling, born March 27th, he is the spitting image of his daddy,Shadow. We still haven't come up with a name for him so we've been calling him Shadow Jr. His momma has blue eyes so I'm hoping he'll carry the gene and thru them in the future.
On sunday 11th of April, a Nigerian Dwarf doeling was born to one of the does I got two months ago. She is an adorable black & white, w/ frosted ears & muzzle and w/ blue eyes just like her momma.
One of our Katahdin ewes also had a lamb on the 11th, again a little ewe.......... She is so pretty, snow white. Her name is Lila after my Granny (4/12/22-5/22/08) who's b-day is the 12th of April. She would have been 88 this year.
At last count we have 40 chicks hatched out, Americanas, Araucanas and Bantam Cochins.
If all goes well, we'll have Cayuga, Buff and Muscovy ducklings as well as Turkey poults soon.
The geese are setting on their eggs and I have a few in my incubator.

First Post.
Hi all who know me,
I have decided to start a blog so that I can keep in touch with those who are so far from me now.
Plus share pictures of our farm and the animals what we share it with.
Not to mention the ups and downs of learning to provide for ourselves by learning to make soaps, detergents, grow a garden, raise animals etc etc. Basically getting back to nature as much as I can to provide for my family in the traditional and green way.
I hope that those of you who have gone before me will be willing to share your knowledge so I don't fall on my face quite as much as I will otherwise.
Love to all my family and friends.
